"PASSING TIME"

NOW AVAILABLE

The Muses are pleased to announce the availability of their new CD "Passing Time". The official "release date" will probably be sometime in June after reviews etc. come in but the album itself is now available at shows and on line at  CDBaby and will soon be available on our website, at eFolkmusic and Dark Symphonies. It is also in queue to be put into Digital Distribution on several different sites. Stay tuned for that information, we will post it as soon as we know anything.

"Passing Time" is a wonderful blend of up beat traditional, modern folk and original songs. Three of the tracks were written by Tanya Brody, one being the audience favorite "Maiden's Revenge". We were joined in this venture on the violin by Michi Regier of The Bringers and Djypsy Grass fame and on the dumbek and vocals by Chaz Kemp of Pandora Celtica. We also were smart and hired ourselves a producer by the name of Kelly Wohlford. Kelly worked with us at King Richard's Faire in Carver, MA a few years ago, where she played Princess Valkyrie. In real life, Kelly is a talented singer, musician and songwriter as well as a teacher and choir director in Massachusetts, where she works with Longview Farm Studios as a producer, back up singer and artist developer. Kelly's insight and expertise really put the album in a new light for us. We took songs from their original state and changed them up dramatically. We also added things (or took out things in some cases) that really enhanced the sound of this project. Kelly was also kind enough to lend her lovely voice and

percussion skills to our endeavor. And finally we invested in professional mastering, which is the process of making the album sound

"whole" at Air Show Mastering here in Boulder, CO. David Glasser put a great deal of time and effort into making our album sound professional and polished. We can hear the difference and we hope you enjoy it as well.

"Passing Time" has been sent out to radio stations all over the world. (No really. Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, even Israel!) Find out if your local station that plays Celtic or Folk music has a copy. If not, let us know the station ID, the program and if you can, the DJ's name or alias and we'll see what we can do about bringing The Muses to your airwaves. Shortly we hope to have a list of the stations that have our CD on our website and a form that will let you tell us when and where you heard us so we can keep better track of our airplay. (One of those things that makes a band look better in the eyes of the "industry".) So keep your ears open and let us know when we pop up on your radio.

Make sure you get your copy of "Passing Time" either on line or at an upcoming show. We hope to see you there, (wherever "there"is).

Where have we been??

Glad you asked!  Getting "Passing Time" out was quite the endeavor and took us longer than we had anticipated, but we spent a month regrouping, learning new material and new arrangements, and then went on another tour!  We went to the Seattle/Vancouver area and from there flew to Hawaii for their Scottish Games and some other gigs and concerts. We have some new music we are very excited about sharing with all of you. Tanya has written a few new songs for this last Yuletide season, and we have been delving into archives and blowing dust off old songs that have not been heard in a while.  There is something very heartwarming in this disposable age, about breathing new life into some long dormant songs, and we enjoy that greatly.  We also finally sold our tour-bus and are flying to all our gigs for the time being.  Eventually we would like to get a different bus but it just doesn't seem possible yet. All in all we are ready for another touring season and are looking forward to coming to your part of the world!

Where have -you- been??

We have a new mailing list that we are setting up and are excited about!  Through "Onlinegigs" we are now able to automate our calendar and our mailings so that fans in California don't have to be troubled with e-mail notices of shows in New York. In order for it to work effectively though, we need everyone's zip code.  Once that is set up then we will be able to send upcoming show notifications by proximity!  Please send me an e-mail (my addy is kiltedman@earthlink.net in case you don't have it already) put in the subject line "MUSES Address" and in the body of the e-mail please include any address changes you would like and most definitely your zip code.  I will make all of the updates as soon as I can and we will be sending you localized e-mails in no time!  If you would prefer to receive every notification whether the show is close to you or far away then please say that in your e-mail as well and I will make sure you get absolutely everything!

By the way, we have been having some technical glitches with this new system so please be patient and know that we are trying to make the process easier for everyone!  Thanks in advance!
